In a move to expand its international reach, Digi-Key has added new sales and customer support resources based in Europe to serve customers across the continent as well as in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The distributor established an EMEA sales leadership team and added a customer support center in Munich to help build business, especially with production-focused accounts.
“Digi-Key is continually modifying its ‘hybrid’ distribution model based on the feedback we hear from our customers,” Digi-Key president Mark Larson said in a statement announcing the changes. “Across the EMEA region, we’re experiencing an increased demand for high-mix, low-volume electronic component orders with local support, so we are aligning new resources to meet this need. We’ve carefully selected a team of industry professionals that will help us grow upon our success and continue to grow our European customer base.”
The team is divided into four focus areas: EMEA and Asia Pacific; Israel and Russia; the United Kingdom and Ireland; and Central Europe. They will support a roster of 41,000 EMEA customers while expanding awareness of Digi-Key to other design engineers and production buyers across the region.
Digi-Key says it will announce more resources covering the Nordics, Baltics and Eastern and Southern Europe by early summer.
“We’re responding to customer demand for a distribution model that supports today’s changing global business climate,” said Chris Beeson, Digi-Key’s vice president, global sales and business development. “By recruiting experienced sales leaders, we can more quickly build the Digi-Key brand, increase our traditional business, and support larger production business accounts with one-on-one support.”
The new Digi-Key sales and service team is centrally located in Munich, initially serving Central European customers. Today, the team includes one application engineer and six sales and service professionals, representing four languages and several years of electronic component industry experience. Based on anticipated growth within Central Europe and the surrounding areas, Digi-Key says it will continue to expand the team.
In addition to the Munich office, Digi-Key has customer support centers in the Netherlands and Israel. The distributor also offers international customer support from its headquarters in Thief River Falls, Minn.news, news/distributors, Digi-Key, electronics, electronics distributors, Top 50, Top 50 Electronics Distributors
