Ethisphere Institute, an independent research center, recently recognized Avnet, Inc. as a 2014 World’s Most Ethical Company. The global technology distributor is being honored for the first time, recognized for raising the bar on ethical leadership and corporate behavior.
Avnet is one of five companies in the electronics industry to be recognized; Applied Materials, Premier Farnell, Rockwell Automation, and Texas Instruments are on the list as well. Along with the other honorees, Avnet is being honored for understanding the relationship between ethics, reputation, and daily interactions with its brand.

The scores for the World’s Most Ethical Company assessment are broken up into five categories and based on the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient framework. The categories include: ethics and compliance programs (25%); reputation, leadership, and innovation (20%); governance (10%); corporate citizenship and responsibility (25%); and culture of ethics (20%).
