Mouser Electronics is delving into the world of autonomous vehicle technology with a new video series hosted by celebrity engineer Grant Imahara. The series is part of the distributor’s Empowering Innovation Together program and is available on mouser.com.
Imahara will team up with leaders in the field of autonomous vehicle technology, including the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence (CAVCOE), Mercedes, Cruise, Google, Delphi, AVX, ON Semiconductor, and Carnegie Mellon/GM. The first installment of the series features Imahara and CAVCOE engineer Paul Godsmark as they tour Los Angeles in a driverless car, learning about the history, ethics, and challenges of building autonomous vehicles along the way.
“Moving to full-scale autonomous driving will have substantial economic, environmental, and social impacts that will drastically change the way people live and conduct their everyday lives,” said Glenn Smith, Mouser Electronics’ president and CEO. “This new series is a great opportunity for the engineering community to experience first-hand the technology created and still needed for driverless cars to become a reality.”
The driverless car series is part of Mouser and Imahara’s Empowering Innovation Together program, which is designed to “inspire creative thinking for both professional and aspiring engineers,” according to Mouser. It is the fourth installment of the program, following the robotics, space exploration, and home automation series.
