2014 to 2016 will without a doubt be remembered as the years with the most consolidation in the history of the Semiconductor industry. From announcements such as the acquisition of Hittite Microwave by Analog Devices for $2.45 Billion in 2014, to the $40 Billion merger of NXP and Freescale Semiconductors in 2015, to the $47 Billion acquisition of NXP by Qualcomm, some of the largest semiconductor acquisitions and mergers in history occurred during this short, two-year span. The number of companies involved and the financial scale is unprecedented.
